• City Rankings (The American Lung Association State of the Air 2011 report ranks the metropolitan areas based on ozone and particle pollution during 2007, 2008 and 2009. For particle pollution, we rank separately the areas with high year-round (annual average) levels and high short-term levels (24-hour) found in monitoring sites across the United States. We take official data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to compile the rankings.)

• American Lung Association Clean Air Survey - June 2011 (The American Lung Association conducted a nationwide, bipartisan survey to examine voters’ views of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the agency’s efforts to update pollution standards.  The polling information has national data and state data for Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.  The results of the survey challenge assertions made by some Members of Congress and major oil and power companies regarding the public’s attitudes on air pollution, including smog; confidence in the EPA and its impact on job creation and economic recovery.)

• American Lung Association Clean Air Survey – February 2011 (The American Lung Association recently conducted a nationwide, bipartisan survey to examine public views of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) enforcement of clean air standards. The results of the survey, which show strong support of the Clean Air Act, come at a critical time, as the U.S. House of Representatives is voting Thursday on a proposed funding bill for the federal government for the remainder of FY11.  The House has proposed cutting EPA’s budget by one third, which will drastically impact EPA’s ability to save lives by protecting the public health from air pollution.)

• More Than 170,000 Americans Urge EPA to Protect our Waterways Washington, D.C. – On July 28, thousands of public comments were delivered to the Environmental Protection Agency headquarters calling for strong clean water protections. These comments, collected across the country, reflect widespread public endorsement of the Administration’s efforts to restore Clean Water Act protections to critical waterways and drinking water sources. Among those who commented were over 1,300 health professionals, 60 county officials, and over 250 sportsmen groups.   National organizations include American Rivers, Clean Water Action, Clean Water Network, Earthjustice, Environment America, Izaak Walton League, League of Conservation Voters, National Wildlife Federation, Natural Resources Defense Council and Sierra Club.
