Employee Rights PDF Print E-mail
As an employee, you have many rights, including the right not to be discriminated against or harassed, the right to be paid overtime, the right to a safe workplace, the right to take leave to care for your or a family member's illness, birth, or adoption, and the right to privacy in personal matters.

Your job is your livelihood. It puts food on the table. It pays the rent. It may even help finance your child's college education one day.  To lose your job could have serious, long-term consequences for you and those who depend on you.

You do have rights at work.  Your AFGE membership entitles you to rights common to all civilian Federal employees, as well as additional representation and protections detailed in the AFGE EPA MCBA with PARS.  The U.S. EPA must comply with a host of other employment laws and regulations governing overtime pay, workers' compensation insurance, unemployment insurance and unpaid time off for a serious illness or new baby.  If you are a person with a disability, U.S. EPA may be required to make changes in your workplace to assist you in performing the essential functions of your job.

IMPORTANT NOTICE! If a situation at work seems unfair or intolerable to you, don't suffer in silence. Talk to your AFGE Union representative.  Keep in mind that the law, regulations and the MCBA afford you a variety of legal protections.

It is incumbent upon you to KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.  Please read the MCBA, as well as the "Employee Rights" section of this website.  If you have questions, please ask your AFGE Union representative.
